Who we are

Vertex Surveys are a family-run land surveying company owned by two brothers, Adam and David Harwood. With over thirty years of experience between them, they have worked together for the last eight years. They have built up a fantastic reputation with numerous clients in the architectural, construction and legal sectors, as well as working with private clients. This is evidenced by our Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) regulation and as affiliate members of the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (ICES).

Where it started

Both brothers have worked at all different levels of land surveying, from assistant level to director level. Surveying is in their blood! Their father was a surveyor and engineer with years of experience across multiple companies and sectors. His main project, which helped to inspire Adam and David’s career path, was as chief engineer of the Channel Tunnel at the time England broke through into France.

Boundary Disputes and Land Registry Services

Adam Harwood (accredited by the RICS) heads up and specialises in the complicated and challenging field of boundary disputes. This is something not many land surveyors take on. It requires years of experience, technical awareness, assessment of plans and documents, patience and understanding of the legal ramifications of aiding solicitors and homeowners about their boundary issues. However, it is a challenge Adam takes great satisfaction from.

Measured Building Surveys Services

David Harwood heads up the measured building aspects of the company. One of the pioneers of laser scanning technology in the UK, David has in-depth technical knowledge of capturing 3D point clouds and total station data capture for surveys. Through testing, experimentation and office-to-field data capture, David is an expert at assessing each project and establishing the most efficient and accurate plan to complete any project that the client desires. This goes from two-up, two-down houses through to huge projects like shopping centres and multi-million-pound yachts.

The latest technology and instrumentation

Thanks to Adam and David’s vast background in all different types of land surveyor services, Vertex Surveys are in the best position to help clients get the most accurate and cost-effective surveys completed. In modern land surveying, unfortunately, experience isn’t enough. We also invest heavily in the most up-to-date instrumentation and software, including total station theodolites and GPS rover data capture.

As the team continues to grow, Adam and David always take a hands-on role, leading projects from start to finish, no matter how large or small.
